The book was OK - I found it to be very "put downable".The hero Tony was alright - he was definitely a rake - if you like that sort of hero - I prefer reformed/reforming rakes. He kind of put me off at the beginning of the book and never quite redeemed himself in my eyes.
Chessy the heroine was pretty much unbelievable - and not in a good way. She was wishy washy and I never saw her incredible fighting skills in action.
The premise for the story was good and the writing wasn't bad per se - it just didn't hold MY attention. It seemed a but choppy and disjointed at times and there seemed like there was a lot going on - but in reality there wasn't.
This was not the worst book I have ever read - it is not even close to the worst. But it is not a keeper either.

I loved the story. The Author did a very good job developing the characters. The length was just right. This is the second book written by this author I have read. I want to read more.
East of Forever is a wonderful book and another one partly about Draycot Abbey. Christina Skye is a wonderful author!
What could you say about a Christina Skye Novel except great. This is so cute and funny, any of her fans or new readers will not want to miss the one. I can hardly waite for each new novel she writes to come on the market.
I loved this book -). It was a great blend of cultures and beliefs at the same time it was a riveting romance -). And avid reader that I am, I love that I never figured out who the bad guy was till the end of the book.. Kept me on pins and needles and I could not put it down -).
Love this storyline. It keeps me wanting more and more. Love the charaters. I hope it goes on forever. Thanks again for a great book. Never fails to empress.
But Tony calls her Chessy. We met Tony in the first book of this series, now he has his own story, and it's quite charming and has danger, intrigue, humor, suspense, some unexpected events and a tumultuous love story! Well worth reading. I recommend reading these books in chronological order.
If you can get past the heroine telling the hero that they were "fiends" rather than "friends", it is unlikely that you will get past the many, many plot inconsistencies. For example the heroine can't read or write, as is evident from her inability to read the note in response to the note she wrote (? no prior explanation of illiteracy); three people fall from a roof, one dies from the fall, two are winded with one of these two having ankle problems (the one who didn't use her fighting training to tuck and roll); and the worst inconsistency, the heroine didn't recognize her father when, for no discernable reason, he shows up at a hotel where the hero is attempting to convince the heroine that having taken her virginity, he must marry her. Of course, the heroine then believes that her unrecognizable father was not mistreated by his kidnappers.
This book needs serious editing. I gave it one star for not having serious, serious gramatical errors and one for having some good ideas. Unfortunately I was unable to forget the statements made in the book as quickly as the author did.
This was my first book by this author. It is also going to be my last.
